Don Lewis General Manager of the Lake Erie Vikings will be attending the two week long hockey camp that is located at "The Pond", to meet local hockey fans and inform them there is a new Professional Hockey Team in their town.
"You have to get yourself in the community, you have to make the local community aware that they have a new professional hockey team in the area, and what better place to start than "The Pond" with hockey fans already in place." The Geauga Youth Hockey tryouts begin tonight at 6 pm on Monday, May the 12th and run from Monday to Thursday from May 12th-15th and May 19th-22nd. |

MAHL works to open border to Canadian players |
CANTON, OH – The Mid-Atlantic Hockey League completed its spring meetings this past week and developed a comprehensive approach to opening its rosters to Canadian players.
Andrew Haines, president and founder of the MAHL was pleased at the conclusion of the spring meetings.
“The team owners and the league offices created a reasonable process for attracting Canadian talent to the MAHL and our teams,” said Haines.
The unanimous decision by the team owners and league officials to pursue Canadian players will permit up to eight Canadians per team roster.

Don Lewis hired as Lake Erie Vikings new General Manager |
|
CANTON, OH – The Lake Erie Vikings of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League are pleased to announce the signing of Don Lewis as their new General Manager.
Lewis comes to the Vikings after working as an account executive for the Jacksonville Barracudas of the Southern Professional Hockey League in the 2007-2008. That season the Barracudas competed in the SPHL finals for the league championships.
"I'm excited to be returning north and joining the Mid Atlantic Hockey League,” said Lewis at his signing.
Lewis has spent four years in professional hockey with the United Hockey League in addition to the SPHL. He brings a wide range of experience in hockey operations to the Vikings having worked in the front office and with the players themselves as an equipment manager.
“I am looking forward to a very successful season on and off the ice this year with the Vikings,” said Lewis who will begin recruiting his staff in the coming weeks.

Mid-Atlantic Hockey League and PHN, Inc. sign agreement
RIO RANCHO, NM – PHN, Inc., the parent corporation of prohockeynews.com, is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League to provide media relations services to the MAHL for the upcoming 2008-2009 professional hockey season.
The Mid-Atlantic Hockey League will enter its second year of operation in November 2008 and PHN, Inc. will develop press releases and media relations efforts for the MAHL and its member franchises.
The agreement was reached this week between Andrew Haines, MAHL president and founder, and the ownership group of PHN, Inc. as a collaboration in the interest of assisting the MAHL in developing a comprehensive media effort to better reach the league’s and franchises’ fans.
Haines was instrumental in approaching PHN, Inc. and developing the effort to improve the MAHL’s press relations and media efforts.

Warriors relocating to Trenton, Michigan |

CANTON, OH – The Warriors of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League have announced their relocation to Trenton, Michigan for the upcoming 2008-2009 MAHL season.
The Warriors finished the inaugural season in the MAHL with a 14-14-2 record, good enough for second place in the league including 14 home dates in Wooster.
“We are excited by the move of the Warriors to Trenton (Michigan) for the coming season,” said MAHL president Andrew Haines. “This is an ideal position for the team and the league.”
Trenton, a city of more than 20,000 in southeastern Michigan, has a thriving hockey community and provides the MAHL with a solid presence in the Midwest.
The Warriors will take the Trenton moniker and play in the Kennedy Recreation Center. The Center is a state-of-the-art community-based facility with a 1,000-seat capacity in addition to luxury suites.
